EMPOMASS

The database contains mass spectral information on unknown and provisionally identified organic substances separated into two modules:

  1. Numeric information results extracted from the screening data, such as major ions in the mass spectrum of the compound, retention characteristics, match factor, proposed structure, CAS number, molecular mass, etc.
  2. Raw mass spectra organised and searchable in the specific emerging substances library.

The database will allow:

  1. The tracing of the occurrence and pollution trends for substances, which are currently not included in major monitoring schemes because of a lack of knowledge of their identity;
  2. The definition of new emerging threats in various environmental compartments.

How to submit the data

The web application allowing for on-line upload of data via Internet will be ready in October 2006, until then they will be collected by means of pre-formatted Excel sheets.
