QA/QC ISSUES

The NORMAN network developed a validation framework (validation protocols) specifically designed to support the harmonised optimisation and validation of measurement methods for monitoring of emerging contaminants.

In order to test the developed protocols and the ability of the network to meet European demands for monitoring of emerging pollutants, various inter-laboratory studies were undertaken, each of them addressing a different class of emerging substances of particular environmental interest today.

The NORMAN protocol is currently under negotiation as CEN level (CEN TC 230 - Water Analysis) for its implementation in European Standardisation with the drafting of a new work item proposal for methods validation (future CEN Technical Specification).
